Bridal Show Part 4: Reception Hall

The final installment in the bridal show is the reception hall.  Groups of students in the other class did the reception centerpieces, cake toppers and an arch way.  They did a fabulous job.  Enjoy!

Bridal Show Part 3: Not So Shabby Chic

The third and final group in the advanced class had decided on the theme Not So Shabby Chic to reflect a wedding that a few of the group members have scheduled for September.  The color scheme was pinks and creams using David Austen garden roses, jasmine, peonies and orchids.  The designs were classic and elegant with a touch of whimsy.

For the bride who wants something different for her flower girl, you can try a moss covered styrofoam ball with a thick stick wrapped in ribbon.  This group added an orchid and tiny rose buds.

The ring bearer pillow was a hand made nest.

The mother of the bride carried a purse that was also styrofoam wrapped in moss with aluminum wire for the handle and orchids and jasmine glued to the purse.

The grooms boutonniere was an orchid

The father of the bride had an orchid bud, pink spray roses and a petal from the garden rose wrapped in a light pink ribbon with wire accent.

The Bridesmaids bouquet (hey that girl looks familiar!) was a tear drop with the garden roses, pink spray roses and jasmine.

The Brides Bouquet was another cascade with pink spray roses adding movement to the center, peonies, garden roses and jasmine.  This bouquet smelled amazing and was very elegant.

For the "shabby" part of the theme, they used glass jugs with babies breath and 3 orchids.  They also created a chocolate basket with favors for everyone who attended!  Each box had spray roses and jasmine wrapped in ribbon.

The ceremony decor was very pretty.  They took willow branches and cemented them into containers that they spray painted gold and filled with jasmine.  The branches are attached at the top to create an arch way and orchids are positioned throughout the design.

This group had a very clean and classic look to it.  Very fragrant and beautiful.

Tomorrow will be the final post in the series with photos of the "reception" hall that the other class put together.

Upcoming Events

Spring is always busy for floral designers and event planners.  We are involved in bridal fairs, and floral events galore!  Here are a few events that are coming up:

On Saturday April 14 from 9-3pm, Tapestry Church will be hosting a one stop shopping experience.  Other vendors that will be at this event include Scentsy Wickless Candles, Mary Kay and yours truly!   I will have some sample Mother's Day arrangements that can be ordered and which will be delivered Mothers Day weekend.  I will also have single stems and selling custom-made, hand-tied arrangement for you to take home and enjoy!

Also on April 14th, the San Mateo County Master Gardners will be hosting a tomato and pepper sale.  I've gone the past 2 years when it was held at College of San Mateo.  Since the college decided they wanted to build a parking lot where the gardens and green houses are, the Master Gardners have had to find a new home.  The sale will be located at the Elks Lodge in San Mateo from 9am-1pm. Click here for more details.  There are some delicious tomatoes and peppers for sale, so I highly recommend it!

On Monday April 23 at 7pm, College of San Mateo's horticulture program will be hosting a bridal show featuring designs by three groups of students.  The themes will be Asian Fusion, Once Upon a Time and Not So Shabby Chic.  There are some amazing ideas that will be shown off and there will be goodies available for the audience.  The best part, its FREE!!

Hope to see you at some of these events!
